I’m in love with this campaign from Chanel, fitness and fashion are coming together. Activewear is becoming “the modern girl’s streetwear.” (From Uri Minkoff) Women are transcending a lifestyle of being healthy into being fashionable while at it. The trend of wearing workout gear inside and out of the gym is becoming a thing, specially for this fall 2014, thanks to the popularity of sporty elements in the street style and the adding touch of sports in the runways. So wether you like sports or not, it is possible you will be wearing activewear for next season. I love this new trend designers are calling “haute casual” or “sports deluxe.” What do you think?

Get a White Spring Break…

IMG_4513

It is spring and one of the good things, besides the weather, that come with it is: “Spring Break,” and I want to recommend this amazing place to go in Colorado. Breckenridge, as the largest historic district in Colorado, is a good option to go skiing without the crowdedness and expensiveness of Vail. Don’t get me wrong, I love Vail, but sometimes it is good to try new places where you can find extraordinary adventures, and it is just a two hour drive away from Denver’s International Airport. I went two months ago with some friends and I really loved it, the town is small but it is really beautiful and so picturesque. The thing that I loved about Breckenridge is that it is filled with locals, you don’t see a lot of tourists there, you find people who live around who are passionate about skiing; and also, they were really nice. We got stuck in the snow because there was a huge and massive storm, and there were a lot of people who helped us without even asking. I will tell you a few tips (which you may already know) and some local places to go for drinks and food.

Some tips about going to Brekcrenridge:

1. Rent a car that will allow you to drive smoothly on the snow, believe me, we had to walk a lot because our car wasn’t a good option; even if they tell you that it is, always go for the sure thing and be prepared.

2. If you are not staying in one of the resorts that are sky in sky out, it is better to rent your skis and boots at the top of the gondola, that way you don’t have to carry them all the way down.

3. Buy your lift tickets in advance because they can be more expensive at the counter.

Places to go, food and drinks:

There are a lot of good options for food and drinks in the area. Here are my recommendations:

On mountain eating:

1. T-Bar: on Peak 8. This was my favorite, and a local favorite as well for aprés ski; there is live music, excellent food, and great drinks.

2. Ten Mile Station: on Peak 9. It offers comfort food during the day and gourmet dinning after dusk.

In town dinning:

1. Blue River Bistro: an excellent option if you are looking for an elegant, gourmet place to have dinner, it has very good cocktails and it offers hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, chicken, and pastas. The place is beautiful and worth visiting.

2. Downstairs at Eric’s: a nice family sports bar with comfort food, TV’s, and relaxed atmosphere.

3. Crepes a la Carte: they offer crepes made to order, no sitting, and a good option for eating after hours. They are delicious!!!

4. Angels Hollow: another local favorite serving excellent fish tacos.

5. Fatty’s Pizzeria: one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had.

Bars and places for drinks:

1. The Gold Pan: a sports bar which is one of the spots where the movie “Dumb and Dumber” was filmed.

2. Breckenridge Brewery: the only brew pub in town and a place where you can find extraordinary local brews and, hence, a local favorite.

3. The two best sports bars in town are: Ollie’s Pub and Grub and Ullr’s Sports Bar and Grill, they get really crowded so if there is a game going on be sure to arrive early to get a seat.

4. Celia’s Nightclub: it is THE place to go dancing and drink martinis.

This is it!! I hope you like my recommendations, and never forget to “keep it local.”
