“GIN GIN” The Place For Gin in Mexico City…

GIN GIN

A new “speakeasy” that has conquered the inevitable lifestyle of the locals in Mexico City. It is a Kitchen-bar located in one of the trendiest and hipster zones in Mexico called La Roma. The ambience has its own mystery and charm that will surprise you every time. People come here for the Gin cocktails prepared exquisitely by the bartender, definitely the best gins in the city.

The menu is small but the dishes are delicious, I completely recommend trying the peanuts with olives seasoned in spicy spices and the pizzas. I don’t remember the name of my favorite cocktails but one was made with cucumber, sake, gin, and tonic; and the other one had a very special gin mixed with the juice of the olives and a splash of tonic water. They sound simple but they are completely astounding. The decoration is quite peculiar and interesting but cool and classy at the same time. It is a place worth visiting. In order to keep the secrecy, reservations are made through the Facebook page. Hope you like the recommendations and always remember to Keep it Local!

We’ll Always Have Paris… Part II

DSC_0391

This is the last post about the trip. The last two days we were in Paris. I will make a list at the end of several places that my friends recommended us, so you can have more information.

Day #3:

– This day we took the Bus Tour as we did in the other destinations. We wanted to have a full tour so we could do a little sightseeing in Paris. We went around the major tourist’s attractions and then we got down at Champs Elysees. Since it was raining we took this day to do some shopping and visit the stores. We walked through Rue de Rivoli and Rue de St Honoré, there were a lot of high end boutiques so we just strolled around and did some window shopping.

– After walking all around, we had diner at Café Fouquet’s, a nice restaurant in Champs Elysées. We didn’t want to have diner in this area because I consider it too “tourist-y” for me, but we did want to have a nice view of Paris at night. The food was delicious, but too expensive for the things we ate. We had escargots, tomato salad, onion soup, a bottle of rose wine and we paid around 250 Euros, so I would not recommend eating on these street unless you are looking for a high end gourmet place with a view.

We’ll always have Paris… Part I

ParisThese will be the last two posts about the trip we took to Europe. Our last stop was the amazing and beautiful Paris, and since I have more information I will divide it in two posts. Hope you like them.

I have visited Paris before, but it was the Paris we got to see with our parents, the Paris that just seems “nice,” “beautiful,” “big,” and “worth visiting.” However, this time was different, being in the most romantic and cosmopolitan city in the world with the love of my life, made me see a different Paris. A Paris full of colors, culture, romanticism, joy, art, fashion, extravaganza, and amazing architecture and views even at night. I think this is one  of the few cities in the world that its “midnights” are worth experimenting and specially worth living once in a while. I loved this city, this is what we did and what I recommend visiting if you only have four days.

DAY #1:

– We stayed at the W Hotel near the Opera, which I completely recommend since its location is perfect, we were walking distance from almost everything or just two or three stops away on the subway. After checking in we went to have breakfast to a restaurant called Angelina, a truly Parisian gem. Angelina was founded in 1903 by the confectioner Antoine Rumperlmayer, its elegance, sophistication, and glamour make it a unique place to have breakfast, and lunch among the locals and tourists. Its trademarks to enjoy are: African hot chocolate composed of three different African cocoa, and the Mont Blanc, a light meringue with whipped cream and chestnut paste.

Vienna in two days…

Vienna in two days

During our trip to Europe, we took four days to visit Vienna and Prague, two of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen in my life. This post will be about Vienna, even though we were only there for two days we got to see almost everything or at least the most important and emblematic things of the city. As we did with the other cities, we took the Tour Bus for sightseeing and just stop and walk through the gardens, which were astounding.

Day 1:

The fist day we arrived to the hotel, which was just in front of the opera, and 5 minutes away of all the shopping and Vienna City Center. The hotel name is Le Meridien, I fully recommend it, the rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. After checking in we went to the Vienna State Opera, sadly we couldn’t see the traditional opera because they close for the months of July and August and have different performances. We walked through the City Center, where the tourist shops and high end stores are held, all the way to St Stephen’s Cathedral. We continued walking all the way to Belvedere Castle and the Botanical Gardens, which were amazing and beautiful, there was a path with Tree Roses that made me remember Alice in Wonderland.

ABC Kitchen NYC… my favorite

Foto from Cosmopolitan TV

Foto from Cosmopolitan TV

ABC Kitchen has become my favorite restaurant in NYC. I have heard about it many times but I’ve never had the chance to visit, it was either extremely crowded or I wasn’t interested. Well, I regret not going before, it is an extraordinary place.

It is quite surprising actually, because when you go inside that ordinary door, you don’t expect the marvelous white fantasy that surrounds this place. It’s location, ABC Carpet and Home Department Store, gives the place the charm it deserves. The restaurant, which is operated by Michelin Star Chef Jean Georges Vongerichten, is dedicated to serve fresh, seasonal, organic, locally and regionally produced ingredients under safe and sustainable environments. Everything the Chef creates is Farm to Table oriented, offering one of a kind dishes very artistically presented.

The décor of the restaurant is completely inspired in its beliefs. Everything is white, clean, and shiny with green and wooden touches, it seems so simple but elegant at the same time. The mirrors and chandeliers give a vintage feeling to the decoration, over exposed brick walls painted in white enhances the rustic and natural environment. The ambiance is casual as the waiters also dress a casual “Converse style” matching the country side of the restaurant.

Where to go in The Hamptons Part III … Montauk

This is the third and last post from The Hamptons. I left this one till the end because I just loved the places I found in Montauk, they were so out of the ordinary, completely beach-y and exceptional. I hope you like them as well.

Montauk is at the tip of the island. It is the last town in The Hamptons, where lots of young people gather to have some drinks, dance, and have fun. These are the places I recommend visiting at Montauk.

Montauk

The Surf Lodge

The Surf Lodge is my favorite place in The Hamptons. It is a modern beach resort perfect for locals, tourists, and surfers. The place has a charm of its own where people can eat, relax, and enjoy wonderful sunsets. It has several places to enjoy a satisfying meal, it has the deck with authentic drinks and fresh bar food; the beach club, where you can lay down and soak up the sun; and the dining room with a sophisticated touch, where comfiness meets romanticism in the moonlight. There are many amazing places and things to do here at The Surf Lodge, even some local shops will steal your money away. Everything in this place makes perfect sense, it is a dream-like destination, home-y, casual, and extremely friendly.

The Sloppy Tuna

Sloppy Tuna is a truly local bar, restaurant, and nightclub located just steps aways from the beach. The place is perfect for bites after swimming, surfing, or relaxing by the beach. The menu offers a great variety of drinks, and food including saldas, hamburgers, fish tacos, lobster rolls, and the signature, tuna salad sandwich. It is has the perfect casual ambience in Montauk, with no strings attached, and no dress up necessary (as the name says, you can be sloppy). It has two patios, one at the entrance and one rooftop where you can enjoy wonderful views of the beach. There is no better local place to visit for a night out, marvelous food, and excellent service.

La Brisa is a Mexican taquería from the same owners as Tacombi in NYC. This local joint offers great ambience, marvelous margaritas, and a simple yet authentic menu featuring daily fish specials, ceviches, and catch of the day tacos. The ambiance is completely casual and energizing; a truly Mexican experience.

Where to go in The Hamptons Part II Sag Harbor, Bridgehampton, East Hampton

This post is a continuity of the latest post “Where to go in The Hamptons.” This is Part II, a recommendation of places to visit in Sag Harbor, Bridgehampton, and East Hampton.

Este post es la continuación del último post “Where to go in The Hamptons.”

Sag Harbor:

Bay Burger

A roadside local burger joint that delivers fresh flavors and undeniable marvelous home made ice cream. Everything that this place offers is made from scratch with local ingredients.  The décor is simple but cozy, and the staff is extremely friendly. Additional to meat burgers, you can also find Lobster Rolls, and my favorite, the Fish Burger; made with atlantic cob, chopped and seasoned with garlic, shallots, and parsley, served with spinach and homemade tartar sauce. It was exquisite, definitely the best fish burger I have ever tried. Even though the menu is simple, every dish is made with a certain elegance that surely distinguishes this burger joint form the others. Comfort food is what Bay Burger is all about.

Pierre’s

A French Bistro known for its amazing pastries. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and diner. It specializes in local seafood and the menu changes constantly according to season, so expect freshness and elegance in ever dish. The ambiance is cozy, elegant and sophisticated but relaxed.

Nichol’s is a truly local English Pub in the roadside of Montauk highway, almost located in Amagansett. The ambiance is completely casual and easy going. Locals say celebrities can be spotted from time to time, so be aware. The service is a little bit slow, so have patience when you come to Nichol’s.

Babette’s

Babette’s is all about organic, seasonal, fresh, and locally produced ingredients. The menu includes completely vegetarian dishes and it has a wonderful juice bar offering fresh smoothies and cleansing juices. It has an outdoor patio that transforms into an oasis for almost every season. Its main focus is to support and sustain the community by helping local farmers grow and connect. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; however, it is famous for its tasty and flavorful brunch.

East Hampton Point

East Hampton Point is the restaurant from the hotel with the same name. It is an elegant, sophisticated, and high end restaurant right in the middle of the marina in East Hampton. The menu is rather exquisite, serving contemporary American cuisine. The best thing about this restaurant is the view, it is truly breath taking; nothing more comforting than enjoying a glass of wine overlooking the sunset.

Shopping, lifestyle, beach:

There is a huge amount of shopping in these three small towns. I recommend to stroll around the Main Street in East Hampton, and on the Montauk Highway that crosses though Bridgehampton. The stores are painteresque, beautiful, and extremely charming. If you want to go to the beach, go to Main Beach in East Hampton. It is a public space, so you must bring your towels and benches if you want to relax even more.

I completely recommend visiting these towns, they are absolutely astounding. Thank you for reading!

Where to go in The Hamptons… Part 1 SOUTHHAMPTON

I went to The Hamptons a couple of weeks ago, and it is a place that exceeds expectations. I have heard from locals in NYC that it was just a place to spend the weekend resting and wandering, but it certainly surprised me. It is a place that I would love to go every summer, it is greenish, joyful, peaceful, and totally enjoyable. It is the perfect place to go shopping, eating, and definitely wandering. The Hamptons is broken down in different small towns: SouthHampton, BridgeHampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor, Amagansett, and Montauk, which is at the end of the road of Montauk Highway. I stayed at the Southhampton Inn, which is located in South Hampton, the rooms are cozy, clean, and big enough for two. The hotel is affordable in comparison to the other ones located in the zone, and it has a lot of amenities including that my 6 year old yorkie could spent the night.

SouthHampton, BridgeHampton, and East Hampton are beautiful, you can find expensive shopping and the best restaurants, including the famous chain of The Palm. Montauk is wonderful as well but for me, the beauty rests in the other three. However, Montauk is the perfect place for young people, it has amazing bars, and places to dance. This is where you want to go if you are looking for drinks all night long.

I would recommend staying in East Hampton, it is in the middle of the road and it is near the other towns. Here are the places to go while you are in The Hamptons. I divided the post in three parts:

Part 1: Southhampton

Part 2: East Hampton, Sag Harbor, BridgeHampton

Part 3: Montauk

South Hampton:

Golden Pear Cafe

Golden Pear Cafe

Golden Pear Cafe

It has locations in SouthHampton, BridgeHampton, East Hampton, and Sag Harbor. It is THE local place to visit. I would recommend going for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. The coffee is delicious and they have a lot of options for breakfast, specially since they serve it all day long. The local favorite here is the “Scrambled Eggs and Aged NY Cheddar Cheese,” which is served on a baked croissant; it is simple yet tasty and fresh. The service is excellent and the people are extremely friendly. There is no local experience in The Hamptons if you don’t visit Golden Pear Cafe.

Red Bar Brasserie, Little Red

Red Brasserie has an amazing bar and excellent bar service. The food is exquisite, perfect for dinner with a big group since the dishes on the menu are vast to share. The ambiance is cozy, elegant, and classy. For brunch and lunch go to its little chain Little Red, the pizzas are fantastic.

Tate’s Bake Shop

Here you will find the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever tried. Kathleen King, owner and founder of the bakery, delivers perfection in each bite giving locals and tourists a place to enjoy marvelous cookies. And the plus, you can find gluten free as well. The cookies are crunchy on the outside but extremely soft on the inside, chewy and delectable.

If you want to do some shopping you have to take a promenade through Main Street, you can find all kinds of shops, local designers and high couture. For exercise, you must visit Pure Barre, a barre workout that will make you a fitness junkie.

Hope you like my recommendations, thank you for reading!!

SouthHampton SouthHampton SouthHampton SouthHampton

Parte 1: Southhampton.

Parte 2: East Hampton, Sag Harbor y BridgeHampton.

Parte 3: Montauk.

SouthHampton:

Golden Pear Cafe

Red Bar Brasserie / Little Red

Yo recomiendo ir a cenar, si quieren brunch o comida vayan a Little Red.
