The Meatball Shop is now one of my favorite family and casual restaurants in NYC. If you are a fan of meatballs (and let’s face it, who isn’t? I think that almost all of our childhood memories include at least one dish with meatballs) this is the place to go, you can find any type of meatball you want, chicken, pork, beef, even vegetable. The menu is completely up to you, and that is what makes it fun, you can choose how to eat your balls… You can have them “naked,” in a bowl with the type of sauce you desire (classic tomato, spicy meat, mushroom, parmesan cream, pesto, and special, which changes every day); you can have them in a bed of lettuce and more vegetables; as a slider on a bun; in a baguette with your choice of cheese: mozzarella or provolone; and also you can have them smashed in a toasted brioche with your choice of cheese and sauce as well. I ordered the naked pork balls, served in a bowl with the classic tomato sauce; the meatballs were amazing, so flavorful, tender, and juicy. In the menu, you can also choose a side to eat with your balls, they ave everything, from risotto, vegetables, to spaghetti.
The place is crowded, they don’t accept reservations, so come with an open mind that you will have to wait to taste a little bit of heaven. The restaurant, which now has 5 locations in New York, is a really casual, cozy, and relaxed place to eat wonderful food. The owners, Daniel Holzman (execute chef / co-owner) and Michael Chernow (general manager / co-owner), both with outstanding culinary careers, really went above and beyond to give us the perfect place to eat amazing meatballs just the way we want it.
If you are in NYC, come to the MBS is a great place to taste great food and meet great people… and always remember to keep it local.

Siempre recuerden: keep it local!!!
