Rainy days…

CSC_0489

“You can’t have a rainbow without the rain.”

“Anyone who thinks that sunshine is pure happiness has never danced in the rain.”

Even the rainy days should be part of our majestic plan of life. Because whatever happens, just remember that it never rains forever… How are you feeling this Friday? Today I am feeling grateful for all the rainy days and rainy moments that gave me my own rainbows in life.

We Wait… And We Wait

DSC_0120

“Hope but never expect, move forward but never wait.”

“How foolish is a man! He ruins the present while worrying about the future, but weeps in the future by recalling his past.” Ali Ibn Abi Talib

We live, we struggle, we fight, we cry, we encounter, we race, we rush, and sometimes, most of the times: we just wait… We wait for tomorrow in despair of hoping for better circumstances, for better places, for better timing. We wait for the future so that it can repair our past, so it can affect our present. We wait for life to come up with better and greater ideas about our destiny, we wait for that perfect moment that will change our lives. It’s like when we take a picture, we take several of them so that one, only one, will turn out perfect so we can share it with the world, and then what? Who will be happy with this “perfect” picture, you? me? the people who see it? or even nobody? because maybe that “perfect” picture is no longer perfect afterwards. I don’t know if I’m making sense, probably I am not, but we don’t realice that all the other pictures are better than the “perfect” one, because they show exactly who we are, they don’t show our “fake” pose.

What if…

DSC_1176

“The more you love a memory, the stronger and stranger it is.”

                                                                    Vladimir Nabokov

“You will always be my biggest what if.”

What if we create what we dream of. What if we conquer our fears and live the way we want to. What if our life is more wonderful than what we take for granted. What if we are living the life we weren’t meant to live. What if we let go of the things, places, and people that were supposed to change our lives for good. What if we just lost the opportunity to become more than we ever dreamt of. What if our lives will never be the same. What if we forgive who has hurt us. What if we let life surprise us. What if, what if, what if… These and many more “what if”s are the ones that make our life miserable. We get stuck in the past or we begin to live in the future without understanding that what we got right now is today! We live by dreams, just dreams, instead of making them the end of the “what if,” we constantly lack of courage to begin to live the rest of our lives. I think we create what we are afraid to do only when we have no more time or when something unexpected happens and we can’t do it anymore.

End of Summer…

Ph by Ashley Frangie

“The greatest cruelty is our casual blindness to the despair of others.”

We all tend to believe that the things that happen to us, only happen to us; that when people hurt us, they do it intentionally, that everything that surrounds us is for the sake of making our life the way it is. We never stop to think that maybe, just maybe, what people do to us is the reflection of their own personal problems, their own unhappiness, their own despairs. I think that the greatest virtue we could all have is compassion, we never know what that other person was going through when they did the things that hurt us; or maybe we look for perfection in everything when mistakes happen around the corner everyday. We have to be compassionate about others, about their problems, about their life. I believe it is the greatest form of love. Compassion shows our human side, our belief that we all ride together in this enormous air balloon called world that will eventually break; even though we all have different problems and circumstances in life, we all suffer, so believe in the greater power of empathy and don’t be careless or blind to what others might be going through. How are you feeling this Friday? Today, I am feeling remorse for the way I am sometimes with the people that care about me, for the times compassion wasn’t in my heart and I forgot that people might have bigger problems that I.

Finding the way, your way…

“It might take a day, it might take a year, but what’s meant to be will always find its way.”

“Someday everything will make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.”

“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.” Abraham Lincoln

I know these are more quotes than what I usually use for a Feeling Friday, but they all made perfect sense to what I want to write about today. There have been times in our lives when we get confused, annoyed, angry, and depressed of the things that happen and keep happening. We tend to get immerse in the bad things that occur instead of focusing on the good things, we get anxious because we believe that these will continue to happen and we have no control or way to stop them. However, I think that all those things, all the bad choices we make, all the bad things that happen put us in the right direction of our destiny.

Explore what you don’t know

imageI’ve already written a post about this on one Feeling Friday and I think it was like a year ago exactly, but I feel so inspired about the the trip I made that I want to pick up the subject again. I think that my only advice I can give you is to find a way to explore the world, to see the majestic things that are out there, to wander, to feel lost in a new place, to travel. I know sometimes there isn’t time, money, company, or even the feeling to do it, but I believe there is always a way. Traveling is a way to explore a new dimension of possibilities around the world, to get to know yourself, to fall in love for the first time or for the second time with the one you already love, to learn from whatever experience will you encounter during the journey, to regain confidence in yourself, to meet amazing people, and to find joy in the ordinary. And I think it is also a way to love your life ag ain, when we are far away from home is when we most value the things we have; being unable to reach something or someone we normally do, makes us aware that the ordinary is far from being that, that our routine can and is a good thing.
Travel as far as you can and as free as you can.

The feeling of missing… just missing

IMG_3201

Ph. by Fernanda Casillas

The hardest thing is not talking to someone you used to talk everyday.”

There are a lot of feelings that define us, that mold us, that come to our lives every once in a while, however, I think that the feeling of missing someone or even something is extremely gloomy. We miss our parents when we go on a field trip in our early age, we miss our home town when we go study abroad, we miss our loved one when we get heart broken, we miss the people who have left us, we miss our beds when we travel, we miss the place that stole our hearts, we miss ourselves when we try to be someone else. I mean, we even miss our bodies when we were young, when we were skinny. I don’t think anybody can be saved from this feeling. We all have experienced it, even for a moment when we realize that our life is not complete at all. We sometimes miss a friend for an entire day in which we want to hold her (or him) or just be by her (or his) side to listen to us. What is it that you miss the most? Who is it that you miss the most? Can you reach the people or things you miss?

Memories…

Being here in Puerto Vallarta made me realize how much our memories can retain that we take for granted. This place gave me a lot of good moments, amazing moments, and not so good moments, but moments after all. Moments that have made me who I am today. I used to come here every summer with my family since I can remember and 8 years ago we stopped coming, life stopped bringing us here. I have memories that include laughter, wisdom, regret, and comfort, all at the same time. But now I also feel relieved, I’ve never imagined I would come here 8 years after and feel wonderful because of the life destiny has prepared for me. How are you feeling this Friday? Today I am feeling nostalgic and free at the same time, because we should never take for granted what we are living right now.

The photos were taken by Daniel Lozano in a wonderful space in Irapuato Guanajuato called Hacienda de Arandas.
